Chasing the black lessons
Here's an example of REAL diligence in lesson-learning.
In one lessons system, they colour code the lessons. Red for Open, Orange for Under review, Green for closed lessons.
This organisation also has a Black category - for lessons that are too hard to tackle. Either they cost too much, or need technology that doesn't exist, or require changes that are too fundamental to tackle. So they lesson is identified, but not taken through to action.
It would be very easy to make all lessons into black lessons. That way they could just "go away" without causing inconvenient changes.
So this organisation now has a new project - to do a sweep through the black lessons, to see how many of them are really black, and whether in fact they are something that can be acted on.
This is a really good example of due diligence; making sure that nothing is slipping through the cracks.
