$3 million and 20 weeks was saved through using Merck global networks and KM technology to ensure reliable, cost-effective supply of a key product.  

When a turret in a tablet press machine was damaged in a Merck facility in the UK, the global network engaged rapidly to locate (within a day) a spare turret in Singapore. This was operational in 4 weeks, rather than waiting 24 weeks for a new turret to be supplied form the vendor.  

There were cost and time savings as described above, and also great credibility-building with Merck's partner.
