When I undertook some research for my MBA into knowledge sharing antecedents in UK law firms, I was struck by how some of the lawyers in my sample actively disliked incentives to share knowledge, seeing it as almost an affront to their professionalism. Most wanted instead the removal of barriers to enable them to share in accordance with their natural propensity and recognition from above as to the value of knowledge sharing. Of course this may not translate into other groups, but it was an interesting finding.

http://www.managingpartner.com/feature/knowledge-management/intrinsic-vs-extrinsic-motivations-knowledge-sharing-law-firms (£ but if you haven't a subscription, get in touch & I can send a pdf)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7585040184982733654.post-47691961129446634552013-12-13T13:34:53.047+00:002013-12-13T13:34:53.047+00:00Thanks Nick for the brilliant post on incentivisat...Thanks Nick for the brilliant post on incentivisation of knowledge sharing. But during my vacation I came up with this post. http://info-architecture.blogspot.com/2010/09/knowledge-sharing-and-incentives.html I'd love to hear your thoughts! In short: why does a financial reward help to solve crimes, but doesn't help to encourage knowledge sharing in organizations?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14145886833443377887noreply@blogger.com
